This book investigates the influence of emotional intelligence on leadership performance among university administrators at Njala University, Sierra Leone. Focusing on key emotional intelligence dimensions-self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, regulation of emotions, and use of emotions-the research examines their respective impacts on leadership effectiveness. Findings reveal a strong positive relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership performance, highlighting emotional intelligence as a vital predictor of leadership success in the higher education context. Specifically, self-emotion appraisal and the use of emotions significantly enhance leadership outcomes, whereas emotion regulation poses notable challenges for administrators. The study underscores the critical role of effectively utilizing emotions in fostering effective leadership, offering valuable insights for leadership development programs within Sierra Leonean universities and similar African institutions.
