Delicate work done brilliantly

I was fortunate enough to be a student of Leslie's back in his days at Ohio University in the early 1980s and he was a fantastic writing teacher. His grasp of the Midwestern aesthetic, lifestyle and lifeforce is right on the money and his storytelling is superlative. Recognizing the power of these journal entries was half the battle, assembling them with his trademark grace was the rest of the story. This is a very touching book, especially for anyone with roots in the Rust Belt or the Upper Ohio Valley or any corner of Appalachia. Very nicely done.
