The author wrote Emancipation in order to give insight on being ostracized, ridiculed, and belittled by society as well as the people she shares a bloodline with Debilitating "words" can shatter one's self-esteem. Incessantly hearing derogatory name-calling will definitely push a young child into attempting suicide. "She" knows concretely because she attempted suicide at five, but it didn't work WORDS have POWER. The "masses" aren't coherent in the validity of their "WORDS" It's astounding that the author actually lived through drug use, alcohol use, and being raped by a cousin over several years, not to mention being a product of domestic violence.

Emancipation is a catalyst to "FREEDOM." The word emancipation means "FREEDOM" The paramount cognitive development of a child, adolescent, young adult, and adult needs to be handled with sensitive words. What comes out of a person's mouth notwithstanding the tone of the wording can discrete that person for a lifetime
