Elizabeth Raffald was a tremendous character who lived in pre-industrial Manchester. She produced a must-have cook book, the town's first ever trade directory while running confectionery shops, cookery school and pubs and having a family of at least 6 daughters. She did so much more and yet is barely known in her own city.
