Elise, The Lioness

By Kerry Stinnet

The throne was stolen. The empire was fractured. The war was inevitable.

Elise, The Lioness is the climax of the Gold Saga Trilogy, finalizing plots began in the Espa Chronicle. In this penultimate story Janus the Usurper, in his sixth year of reign, faces off against the three most powerful women of the empire: his wife Empress Angelica once Honadel, the Iron Matriarch Illyania Vacul, and Elise Aragon, Matriarch of the House of the Lion.

For years, Elise Aragon played the long game, navigating the treacherous corridors of power while the Usurper sat upon her throne. Now, at last, the pieces have fallen into place. With Janus dead and the empire teetering on the edge of chaos, Elise takes her final steps to secure the crown not as a conqueror, but as its rightful ruler.

But the battle for the empire is far from over. Angelica's ambition rises in surety that she can be a better ruler than Janus, or Elise. The people cry out for justice. The nobles demand order.

Will Janus maintain his grip on the nation of Raakonia, or will those who oppose him finally have their vengeance for his usurpation of the throne?
