This is the story of one of my ancestors Elijah Chaffin. The struggles he endured in early pioneer life. I have taken actual events of his life and added my own thoughts and words as I imagined he and those around him might have said.Elijah and William C. Chaffin were both in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana in the 1860's & 1870's. In fact the Chaffin's are one of the founding families of the area.Elijah and his daughter Lydia died within 24 hours of eachother, and that is my starting point.
