It was October 2018. Eli stood on the mound looking down at Rucket, his shoulder was throbbing. The first two pitches had taken their toll. He threw, and the ball was so fast it could barely be seen. Rucket fanned it. He was out. As Rucket fanned it, the pain Eli felt just about drove him to his knees. He looked to the stands, saw that his mom and Jill were sitting together praying. He smiled and prayed. "Father, just get me through this inning" was the thought that went through his mind. Would these three pitches be the last he ever threw as a professional? Would this be the time when God the Father started the wheels turning for Eli's secret ambition to finally be realized?
