It builds language by introducing your readers to vocabulary and accessing background knowledge about the topic. There is phonemic awareness practice with the specific phonics skill. Then, students practice the targeted phonics skill with word-level fluency, connected text, repeated reading, comprehension questions, spelling practice with sound-spelling boxes, and a dictation sentence..
