Description
Ella and Fella visit the Get Well Soon Hospital to see their friend Ted Lee Bear, who is receiving treatment for cancer. Curious and concerned, the twins ask Dr Bamm Boo Boo and Nurse P.C. Catt the questions many children may have: What is cancer? How is it treated? Does treatment hurt? What are side effects, and how can friends help?
Through gentle explanations, colourful characters and playful humour, Elephants in the Room introduces children to cancer, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, treatment side effects and supportive care without making the subject unnecessarily frightening. At its heart, the story is about friendship, reassurance and kindness, showing that children receiving treatment are still themselves and deserve honest answers, expert care and friends who continue to see the hero within them.
