Too much fun to be a textbook, very up to date in thought and subject

I have always been fascinated with where things come from and the reason that they were intended or designed for originally. I watched series and read books such as "Connections" and “The Ascent of Man” by Jacob Bronowski. I even took his courses. However, no one book can be the end-all be-all. This book, " Electronic Media, Second Edition: Then, Now, and Later” by Norman Medoff and Barbara K. Kaye, is a good place to start with media in general. Of course, most people will know the contents of this book before they open it; yet the book helps us organize our thoughts in a timely structure. You will also find many jewels or pieces of information that you did not know to fill in those little niches that always irk you because you did not know them. The book itself is designed as a textbook. In this way, if there's something specific we are looking for, we can find it easily. For myself, I'm reading it from cover to cover. An added plus is that I lived through most of these described eras and saw most of the items that are described in the book. It's almost like looking through a family album. For those new to the subject, this book is kept up-to-date with many of the most recent media inventions, and you would think you were reading a newspaper. The book is well laid out with glossy pictures, color diagrams, easy and interesting to read text, realistic chapter titles, a great bibliography, Index questions that make you think, and in many cases, more than just the survey. I hate to use this word, but the book is indispensable.
