El viaje moderno llega a su final (The Modern Journey Comes to an End) is the new book by the writer and academic Asdr?bal Aguiar, with a foreword by Luis Alberto Lacalle, former president of Uruguay. From different perspectives, ethics, politics and law show us the historical watershed that the universal pandemic of Covid-19 has meant and that seeks to impose dystopia. The government of robotics arrives, that of Artificial Intelligence, the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution. He exercises, creates algorithms, even promises to replace judges and their sentences. Known truths become shadows for us and those that emerge, imposing themselves, are daughters of the virtual, friends of voluntarism and chance, and also mark the social distance by seeking to transform us all into users or digits, dispersed or added into niches as appropriate, within a network of digital networks whose governance already corresponds to the large platforms. At the same time, from the other extreme and as a formant of the postmodern diarchy that is being installed, we are told - in the text - that back to the "new normal" we will have to admit that we are not, as men, men or women, the Princes of Creation.
