ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

IN A BROKEN WORLD, NOT FITTING IN IS A PRIVILEGE.

THE FIRST VOLUME IN THE TRILOGY THAT HAS REVOLUTIONIZED DANISH LITERATURE.

*De Gyldne Laurb r Award and Otto B. Lindhardt Prize 2021*

"Korsgaard has an exceptional gift for storytelling, with a keen sense of humor and a deep understanding of human relationships. Without doubt, one of Denmark's most outstanding literary talents." - Berlingske

Tue's world revolves around the farm. She lives there with her parents and siblings, at the end of a long and dusty road. They have eight dogs, a few cows and a pile of animal carcasses in the back garden.

Above Tue's bed is a glow-in-the-dark star, stuck there with a bit of gum. Her ill-tempered father reads the newspaper from back to front, starting with the obituaries. Her mother spends her days playing online solitaire and hardly speaks, even though she has a beautiful voice. Breakfast is stale bread with butter and sugar. The family is bankrupt, eking out a living by raising puppies, selling gold fillings and stealing copper pipes. When things go well, they splurge on a bottle of California wine and imagine they're on vacation. But Tue longs for more, relying on her creativity and ingenuity to keep going.
