German Castro Caycedo has created a great collection of narrations about the reality of Colombians trying to escape poverty and oppression in Colombia. I higly recomend this book, and with it you will realise that after seeing some of our history there is no need to read fiction. Also read En Secreto to learn more about the begining of all the violence and conflicts the are still being felt today.
A must read for those who don't believe everything they hear

I think that a lot of people around the world find it very hard to understand Colombia's reality. This is because the Press only reports what they think is news. There is never a realistic glimpse of the lifes of the people that are directly affected by what the press considers to be worthwhile news of Colombia. This book gives a good insight and may show those who read it how much Colombia is a victim in the drug war and not so much the villain. It portrays the truth, that it is the average person on the street the one that suffers the full impact of a weakened economy, the unnecessary violence and the struggle for power. I recommend that anyone reads this book because it recounts events that come from a reality that is not easily understood by most people, perhaps not even by those who have directly experienced it.
