fine collection

CONDE LUCANOR is a medieval collection of traditional stories, put together by an irascible Spanish prince in the 13th-14th centuries. Some of there are W. European, some Arabic and some Indian (the "Emperor's New Clothes" and "Taming of the Shrew" are in here, centuries before Shakespeare and H.C. Andersen were born). This is a scholarly edition, so if you don't want footnotes, chose another edition. But the stories are good.
