In "Egyptian Designs", Catherine Calhoun as created a compendium of authentic design motifs drawn from the tomb walls, temples, and artifacts of ancient Egypt which, beginning in the 19th century, have continued to influence contemporary Western art. The images are taken from Egyptian jewelry, paintings, metalwork, and sculpture, as well as everyday domestic objects (so well fashioned as to become objects of artistic elegance in and of themselves).
