The study of the effects of temperature variations on the halieutic dynamics of the Sanaga River is part of a wider context of the impacts of climate change on river ecosystems in Central Africa. Research indicates that temperature variations, coupled with changes in rainfall patterns, exert a significant influence on water physico-chemical parameters, biological productivity and consequently on the entire aquatic ecosystem on which fisheries resources depend. Studies carried out in the Sanaga basin, notably by institutions such as the Institut de Recherche pour le D veloppement (IRD), have revealed a downward trend in runoff since the 1970s. This decline is correlated with climatic variability marked by rainfall deficits. At the same time, average temperatures are rising.
