Effects of Parental Motivations in Home-Based and School-Based Involvement Practices

The study primarily aims to determine the correlation between the level of parental motivations in home-based and school-based involvement practices and its relationship to the academic performance of the pupils. The study utilized the descriptive-correlational design since it looked into the correlation of parental motivations and involvement practices. This study utilized total enumeration method to include all parents of Grade VI pupils in Dumingag II District. The researcher used questionnaire-checklist that served as the main instrument in collecting the needed data from the respondents of the study. Based on the findings, it revealed that the socio-demographic profile of the participants, most are on high school level, participants' occupation are mainly housewife and mostly are Cebuano. It also indicates that not most of the time parents know how to help their children do well in school and learn. Generally, the grand mean of 3.81 for personal motivations of involvement suggests that the parent-participants' did not have strong self-efficacy and that they were not always quite persistent and consistent to work through difficult situations to help their child.
