The Microfinance Self-Help Group have played a major role in alleviating poverty in many developing countries. This research publication brings in to the fore the phenomenon in urban areas of a developing country. The effectiveness of these Microfinance Self-Help Groups in bringing about reduction of poverty in its multi-dimensional aspects have been studied. The City chosen is in the southern India with a large population under low-income groups. The change brought about by Microfinance in this section had been found to be very effective.
