Globally, there is immense pressure on the educational establishment to prepare people that fit into a variety of roles; such as professional workers, parents, consumers, politicians, entrepreneurs, etc., and experts agree that more funds should be put into training and motivating teachers, improving infrastructure and facilities in schools, travels and exchanges for teachers and students, and regular curriculum review, among others. The education sector in less developed countries, where the youth bulge is associated with unemployment and related security crises, needs urgent attention. Education has significant 'public good' elements and deserves more donations/support. However, the donors/investors - governments, industry players, development partners, promoters of research and innovation, lenders, etc., - must be convinced that investing in education is socially responsible.
