Argentina is a good example of how no country is too rich to fail, a country which on paper had so much promise but for the reasons we shall be discussing failed to deliver the economic goods. On the 22nd of may 2020, the argentine government missed a 503 million dollar interest payment on dollar bonds defaulting on its debt for the ninth time in its history. Five year plans, a soviet idea, kicking off the world's first five-year plan almost 100 years ago in the late 1920s, which was the first of 13 adopted by the Soviets. This revolution from above as it was called was deemed so successful that the first five-year plan was completed in just four. So, some would say the first actual five-year plan was actually the second one but that's just trivia, but were they actually a success? How did they operate? Why did they stop? Why are prominent figures like Alibaba's Jack Ma suggesting artificial intelligence could lead to planned economies in the future? These are some of the questions we're going to be looking at in this monograph. Green bonds have been tipped to be the savior of not only the planet but the global economy as well. A tall order indeed, just take a look at the EU's announcement that 30 of its recovery fund will focus on green bonds, however, is this really the case? Are green bonds the real green deal? To find this out we're going to be discussing what green bonds are, why they have been growing, what's the strategy to implement them, what the key issues are and what, if any, the solutions are to those key issues.
