Wish to understand the effect of banking on the economy? Wish to learn about money its uses & effects of that use and its effects when misused on a grand scale. Read this book. I had found banking and money boring subjects in graduate school but this author, this book and another written by the same author (a biography of Benjamin Strong whose death in 1927 may have contributed to many of the ill effects of the Great Depression) made the subject vivid and vital.
