Simplistic, uncomplicated verse!

Genre: Poetry Echoes AUTHOR: Sharla Lee Shults Echoes can only be described as poetry for the masses- Simplistic, uncomplicated and without literary parameters. Echoes is a book of first offerings of a new poet. The book is simple in its form and expression- an uncomplicated collection of the poet's experiences presented in poetry. The content is presented in five sections: Echoes from the Heart, Echoes of Inspiration, Echoes of Life, Echoes of Love and Echoes from the Past. Section one shines with: Mama's Little Girl Satin ribbons and tiny bows Pretty flowers in your hair Cotton dresses with eyelet lace Sewn together with care............ Throughout the book, unfortunately, some of the works are rambling with no cadence or balance of line- failing in syllabic verse, while others are excellent examples of traditional quatrain. Although the content of Echoes does not compare with the literary masters, the emotion and in-depth feelings are sincere and easily recognizable by most readers. The author offers this work as " a means for sharing true feelings from the heart." Inspired by God, she has succeeded. From section two: Images As the sun becomes visible along the shore Mirror reflections expand across the sea Figures emerge as shadowy outlines Resembling mental allusions set free.... And this reviewer's favorite in Section five: Beyond Memory Memories exist in a solitary place Hidden deep within the mind Visions and thoughts stored away Secretly where only one can find..... Author Sharla Shults is a resources teacher in Florida. She taught high school science and mathematics for many years and now enjoys her life as a poet. The author has included her own illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. Poetry is an extremely personal medium and must speak to the reader. If Echoes calls to you, pick up a copy today.
