Echoes In The Hallway is a series of short stories, about growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, on the south coast of England. I was born in Portsmouth in 1971. My extended family came from the small village of Titchfield in Hampshire, where I spent many glorious days as a child. My immediate family lived in Fareham, where I spent an idyllic childhood, surrounded by friends, neighbours, and a community long since gone. My book, based on memories and recollections from my childhood, explores the early years, as I grew up on a small social housing estate in the suburb of Hill Park in Catisfield. Family ties, the warm summer of 1976, the Silver Jubilee and the acceptance of the emerging modern world are just four areas that I touch upon. Importantly, I recall growing up gay in a small market town, at a time of prejudice and the spectre of AIDS. These were difficult years, at a time of Section 28 - the inability to discuss my sexuality with anyone. These are short stories based on fact, and are a reminder of happy days at a very special time in my life
