eat shop Montreal made us feel like locals. Great recommendations.

This is the third eat.shop. book we've bought. It guides you to places other guide books don't know about. When I showed it to the concierge at the W, he was amazed that almost all the restaurants were the ones he recommended to people who were looking for the best and least touristy places to eat. Dining options are deliciously detailed. Shopping listings let you know exactly what you'll find at each store. It's a great time saver and points you toward many outstanding places you'd never find on your own. When we're planning a trip, we always check to see if there's an eat.shop guide we can take along. So far, it's made trips to Seattle, Chicago and Montreal much more interesting.

This is one of the two guides you'll want for montreal

This makes planning fun as the style is great and gets you excited about visiting the places included. With the frommer's 3-day guide for the more tradtional stuff (parks, museums,...etc) it's got everything you need. I should note that it has a bit of a foodie/hipster/quirky vibe to it, so if that doesn't appeal to you, you might want to look elsewhere. Here are my only issues. An included map would have been helpful (there is one oneline you can use but unless you have an iPhone that you want to use in Canada at out-of-country data rates, that's not much help), in the same vein, it would have been helpful for the reviews to be grouped by area. Conclusion: this book led to some of the best experiences we had in Montreal. Get it.
