The Jedediah Beech saga began after his family moved from North Carolina to the frontier of eastern Tennessee in 1809. Shortly after the war began in 1812, Jedediah's father and oldest brother volunteered. 14 year-old Jedediah then began hunting in the nearby mountains to help support his family. He soon discovered that he preferred the wilderness over most civilized folks. Jedediah had to grow up quickly on the early frontier just to survive. He would also have to battle mother nature, dangerous wild animals, unsavory characters, renegade Red Sticks, personal tragedies and inner demons along the way.
