Nicholas Bradley's poems are records of epiphanic moments in an arduous and wandering life. Many of them ( though not all ) are "country" poems and have both the down-to-earth realism of John Clare and the sophisticated self-awareness of Edward Thomas. At the same time they are highly original and post-modern in tone and style, oblique and allusive without being perversely obscure. Bradley died in 2012, aged 59. This posthumous selection has been made from a much larger body of his work.
