Dung in my Foxhole

Historically, the Engineers have been looked to for the breaching of enemy obstacles that restrict or try to prevent freedom of movement for our forces. In Iraq today, Engineers are still relied upon to provide that freedom of mobility.

Master Sergeant Ewell, a Combat Engineer and Expert in the Tactics and Techniques the Enemy was using in Iraq to assemble, disguise and detonate Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), became one of the first two Soldiers ever to make up a find and render safe the IEDs before they could unleash their deadly force.

In Iraq, he performed 59 dangerous missions, co-authored the manual used for training special teams with the mission of finding IEDs, was "BLOWN-up" six different times and saved countless lives. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medal.

This is a powerful account of his experience during War, and Post-War struggles with Severe Injuries and PTSD thru Poetry.
