Three boys in London are suddenly whisked out of their ordinary lives and drawn into the Third Heaven, also called The Inbetween - a mysterious realm where the forgotten children of the world are seen at last. There they learn of Abdul, a boy suffering alone, and before they can understand their purpose, all four are hurled back to Earth inside a rusty dustbin... landing in the middle of a vast desert.
Hunted by people above ground who want to destroy them, the boys flee into Dune Hollow, a hidden refuge carved deep beneath the sand. With them is Mottle, their loyal guide dog - a steady, comforting presence as danger closes in from every side. But even in the Hollow, safety is fragile. A beast stalks the desert, a creature they never fully see, only the terrible aftermath of its passing.
Together, the boys confront fear, exhaustion, and obstacles that test their courage and unity. Through it all, Harmony, a being who walks between worlds, sends them telepathic guidance - not to solve their problems, but to help them find the strength to face them.
