I was given this book as a Christmas present and once started very hard to put down. The author takes the reader though the 50's to the present day in what I can only describe as shear delight, all the famous people he not only photographed but also socialised with his parties and above all his sexual exploits along the way. Mr Warren always in bespoke suits or jackets looks more like in his late thirty's then in his mid fifty's a true chelsea gent. The author can now days be seen walking up and down the Fulham Road no longer in the company of his dog but in the company of a rather effeminate young man with red hair who one presumes to be the one called "GINGER" in the book. Thanks for a bloody good read
A racy gripping read...

Loved this book, and have read it several times since I bought it. Mr Warren's antics around London, England and the world are brought to life! An incomparably good read, this book makes most reader's lives look dull by comparison. I especially enjoyed references to the mysterious and glamorous Count di Paulo (a neighbour of mine) not to mention the unforgettable Tim Day.
Earls and Earls Court

Remarkable man, remarkable life. This man is and was a lover of many things. I enjoyed the references to Brighton Beach (the writer's favourite summer venue), "Trojan Tim Day" (a "1980s gladiator"), and a dog named Ragley ("named after the Hall"). A joy to read.
It's all very well, dear...

A wonderful mixture of the salacious and the sublime. London residents watch out for mention of the notorious "Korean" Tim Day, now of course a well-known Belgravia property developer and socialite. In preparing this review I approached him for a comment on his youthful follies, but he shouted "not interested, dear!" before speeding off in a green Porsche.Heartily recommended.

Allan has quite an interesting life as well as a wonderful way with words. His stories capture ones imagination with an endearing quality and humorous appeal.Funny, delightful and full of anecdotes about some of the most interesting characters of the 20th century. This charming British writer puts most of the American gossipers to shame.Cheers to you old boy wherever you are.
