Dualion: The First Bond
Twelve year old Gio has dreamed of the day he would stand before a group of hatchlings and feel one choose him in return. In the Bridgemere Region, human and Duali partnerships are built on trust, emotion, and a sacred Choosing that leads a creature to become either Bonded or Freed. Gio believes his journey is about to begin in the peaceful town of Merehaven, but destiny arrives with far more force than he expected.
When the Grand Master brings the hatchlings for Gio's Choosing, a dangerous group called The Tethering attacks the town. They steal young Duali to fuel machines that twist and force unnatural Bonds. Amid the chaos, one small Light and Fire type hatchling named Luma stands against the attackers to protect Gio. In that moment of courage and connection, Gio and Luma choose each other and form their first true bond.
Determined to grow stronger and understand his place in the world, Gio sets out on a journey that leads to Bridgestone Crossing, the ceremonial heart of the region. There he faces his first Qualifier Match under the guidance of the Fire Expert, Machida. Even with Luma's young inexperience, Gio pushes forward with heart. When defeat looms, a wild Strikid leaps into the battle to defend him, revealing that it too has chosen Gio as its partner. With Luma and Strikid united, Gio earns the Ember Sigil and takes his first step toward becoming a Grand Master.
His journey continues into Verdant Span, a forest canopy settlement ruled by wise Nature and Bug type Duali. There Gio witnesses harmony between humans and creatures on a level he never imagined. Yet danger follows him. The Tethering strikes once more, this time managing to perform a successful Forced Bond. Together with his new friend Dyn and her partner Torrun, Gio helps protect the town and earns the trust of the Duali council.
While healing and reflection bring new understanding, a deeper mystery emerges. The Tethering seeks Harmony Seeds, powerful forest relics that symbolize balance. Their interest in Verdant Span reveals a frightening truth. They are preparing something greater than simple kidnappings. Their leader, Dmitri, waits in the shadows with a plan that threatens both the Choosing tradition and the freedom of every Duali in Bridgemere.
As Gio leaves Verdant Span with Dyn at his side, he carries two Duali who chose him freely, a growing sense of purpose, and the heavy knowledge that his journey is only beginning. The path to becoming a Grand Master has opened, but so has a conflict that will test the meaning of every bond he holds dear.
