Drought

In 2012, a meteor struck Earth. The fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, and general chaos that it caused killed millions. Not only that, but a huge crack appeared in Earth's surface, splitting it into two halves. One half was normal (sort of) and the other was hardly describable. Very much like a horror movie, creatures of the deep ran rampant and all that lived was evil. A flimsy rope bridge stretched over the deep chasms that separated Earth, built by the first humans foolish enough to attempt an exploration. On the more approachable portion of the planet, people adapted quickly to their new environment and got used to the idea that they would simply have to live with the part of the earth that they had. However, just when the human race got its footing back, in 2018, the world fell into even more turmoil. Pitched into a seemingly endless drought, everything living struggled to survive. Plants shriveled and died, animals perished, and all water supplies were disappearing. Even the oceans were shrinking. Still, humans did not give up and a few lived on, some living alone and others traveling in small groups. But one night in 2024 changed everything. A group of four friends were approached by a strange girl who did not eat with a tattoo of a water drop on the back of her neck. She claimed to have been created by her goddess, Aguifer, for the purpose of saving the human race from its greed before Kydian, a demon, corrupted their plans. In a world where everything has to battle for another day on Earth, the five of them must travel to the east coast of North America to defeat Kydian and save the planet, sacrificing everything by the time their journey reaches its end.
