An insider's look at International Equine Competition

This book combines many excellent features: first, its a first class mystery; second, the setting is an International Horse Competition; third the characters are wonderful! Like any real mystery, there is a death, there are clues, and there is danger. This mystery really drives the story, although the setting is so interesting, it adds another whole layer to this book. The World's Carriage Driving events four teams of four horses occur every four years but there are relatively few places to find out much about what they are really like, what the competitions are based on, or the demands on carriage drivers, grooms, and horses. This gives us an insider's view at an event. Characters really make the story, and here, our heroine copes not only with deadly danger while trying to focus on her competition, but is forced to face a harsh reality about her fiancee. Coming to grips with so much truth makes her a true heroine; we, as readers, sympathize and admire. This is a very readable, entertaining work with qualities that really make it stand out from other mysteries, and other equine-related tales.
