Chris Montgomery, Chief of Police in Key West, finally has some time off for a family reunion. While exploring all the area has to offer, his family convinces him to tell a story from one of his cases.

Chris's story begins with Easton Vanderno, a man with a tragic history. While in the drunk tank, he meets Louis Westerfield who convinces Easton to accompany him to Wisteria Island just off the coast of Key West. Leery, at first, because of its reputation of being a place where addicts reside, Louis convinces him that the island had undergone a reformation of sorts and may be a place where he can get his head screwed on straight. Having nowhere else to go, he agrees.

There he meets an unusual group of people who have come there for various reasons, including a twelve-year-old girl whose true identity no one knows.
