Driftwood at the crest of a mighty wave: (poems)

Driftwood at the crest of a might wave. . . Driftwood comprises the elements of life: humans, animals, trees and all the rest. The mighty wave - of the ocean - represents the aspect of life which buoys up the life elements earlier mentioned. And the elements of life, the driftwood, are at the crest of the waves, most of the time, whipped up by the base element. The buoyant elements are tossed up and down driven left and right; some find land and remain anchored there, grow or die and are made new again. It is this movement of life and its effects that the author tries to capture in the poems contained in this book. The nearly 100-page book of poems features titles, like "A promise not made"; "Every day is beautiful"; "I should have been a flower". It treats also issues on politics in "This Heady Earth", on love in, "The man who waited (disappointed)", social admonition in, "Song of the Highway", and so on. The book is a product of the author's six decades of experience and effort in general writing and poetry. The author, Bapakaye Dibi, has been a produce inspector, a customs officer, a broadcaster, an on-air radio and television personality and a lawyer. He has been at all times a reader and a writer on various subject that tickled his fancy. Apart from a few articles in local newspapers, this book of poems would be his first effort at publishing a book.
