The full visual panoply of Star Wars regalia is on display - everything from military gear to royal robes to Jedi and Sith costumes are shown from pre-production sketches to artist's renderings to the final filmed version. Actors, including Natalie Portman and Samuel L.
...the other day and I love it. A friend couldn't stop looking over my shoulder as I thumbed through it. The photos are great and show alot of detail. Another bonus is the chance to see the make-up on the actors. They are in full costume for the photos, so you get to see the full effect with hair and make-up. I think it's a great book for anyone who loved the rich costume details in the Star Wars film series. I also particularly enjoyed the renderings that were included. Each designer is different in how they render and it was fun to see how it looked on paper before it became the finished product.
Truly the Star Wars Costuming Bible

The book itself is a work of art, well worth the price without the special features, and is located in an inset on the other side of the larger package book. I am blessed with a generous husband - my copy is signed, # 274, by Trisha Biggar herself, the woman who is responsible for the Prequel Trilogy costumes. But this doesn't just cover those. This anthology covers all costumes, from all movies (including a visual index of every single costume that ever appeared on a character in the movies), close ups, detailed booklets outlining Darth Vader's costumes, Amidala's costumes and the various headdresses and more. Close-ups and pictures, and more close-ups - this book is a must have for any star wars costumers. It really, truly is the bible as it relates to star wars costuming. I have never seen anything that is its equal. I could not recommend this book more. If nothing else, the stand alone book. But if you can possibly swing it - the special edition is amazing. Breathtaking.

If you enjoy the world of Star Wars you will thoroughly love this book. It is one of a kind book that brings the reader up close to the characters, so close you can almost touch the costumes. The textiles and fabrics of these costumes are amazing. The detail in the photos is so crystal clear, that you can almost feel the weight of the fabric. The book gives the actors take on the different costumes that he or she was wearing. High detail, high quality and a wonderful read.
Great designs for a galaxy far, far away

I can't fully describe how incredible the costume designing is in this book. I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of the limited edition as well but, just having the regular copy is simply breathtaking. The costumes are so detailed and elaborately decorated.....they are clothes you'd want to wear if you could! Each piece is specifically designed to fit the characters, whether it be Jedi or alien. It's like the costumes are speaking for the wearers mood and place in the film. The designers really went all out and wonderfully used their imaginations to create timeless pieces. Kudos to Trisha Biggar and her design crew!
The Art of Costuming

Trish Biggar was the costume designer of the 'Star Wars' Prequel Trilogy. In this beautiful book she details the work that went into the design of the many costumes used by all of the actors shown in the three movies. In addition there are several short articles or commentaries by George Lucas (writer, director), Rick McCallum (producer), Natalie Portman (Princess Amidala), Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu). This is a large format, coffee table type book. The printing, the photographs are excellent. In many cases for the more important costumes the original concept drawings are given along with a description of how they changed over time to become what we saw on the screen. Most of the book is on the prequel, i.e. Episodes I, II, and III. There are pictures of the costumes used in the original three movies as well which show how fashion design might have changed over the time between the movies. This is a fascinating book for Star Wars fans, and for anyone interested in seeing how movie costumes are developed (i.e. in at least one case, having custom fabrics woven).
