Dreams of the Orphan is an interesting account of a young boy's life, characterized by poverty and loneliness. However, with hard work and determination, his life inevitably changes for the better, thus ensuring the verity of self-emancipation through education. Major themes in the story include betrayal, education, poverty, culture, and love. Ismaila Saidybah is the author of Sins of a Father, published in 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of The Gambia. He is an award-winning writer and novelist and was the winner of the Covid-19 short story writing competition organized by the National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in collaboration with the Writers Association of the Gambia (WAG). Saidybah was also named one of the 100 most influential Gambian writers in 2020. Currently, Saidybah is the Book Publishing and Promotion Secretary of Writers Association of the Gambia. He is also the Founder and Country Coordinator of Writers Space Africa - Gambia Chapter.
