In 1994 Ana's husband was murdered in Hawaii in a racial gang attack trying to save a stranger's life. Shortly after his death, Ana started having a series of astounding and startling dreams. With uncanny accuracy Native American people, long since dead appeared in her dreams and told her their stories. Validated by real events, Ana realized she was dreaming about the Massacre of Wounded Knee. She was introduced to Arthur Short Bull, Ogalala Sioux and grandson of Short Bull one of the disciples of the Ghost Dance religion and a great medicine man, and became friends. Synchronous events started to mount. Ana discovered that she was related to General Alfred Sully, the officer in charge of destroying the Sioux Nation after the Civil War, and Jean Louis Legar , a blood relative and prosperous fur trader who died in poverty due to helping Sitting Bull and his 5,000 Hunkpapa Sioux survive in Canada.
