Dream Lovers

Bobby Darin certainly was not alone as he wished for a dream lover - we've all had dreams of one we love, or hope to love, or hope will love us. But what are our dreams? Are dreams merely our brains creating imaginary worlds as we sleep, or were our ancestors correct when they believed that our spirits left our bodies to visit other realms as we slept? They believed their dreams were messages from other worldly beings, glimpses into the future or the past, visions of other realms, heavenly or hellish, enough to allow these nighttime lives to control their waking lives, their religions, even when to go to war. Eventually they came to believe that these other worlds existed and that we can live there after death - and some we could visit even while alive.
