Drawing Near: Discovering God's Desire to Dwell With His People

By Michael Collins

Most people approach Leviticus expecting a book of ancient laws, unfamiliar rituals, and difficult passages. Few expect to discover one of the Bible's most beautiful invitations.

Drawing Near is a 50-day contemplative devotional that uncovers the spiritual heart of Leviticus through the light of Christ. Rather than reading the book as a collection of regulations, these reflections reveal the quiet thread woven through every sacrifice, festival, Sabbath, priestly blessing, and act of worship: God's enduring desire to dwell with His people.

Each day's reading follows the movement of Scripture-from the Garden of Eden to the Tabernacle, from the Temple to Christ, from the Church to the hope of the New Creation-showing how the symbols of Leviticus continue to speak to our own journey of faith today.

Written in a gentle, reflective style inspired by the Christian contemplative tradition, these meditations invite you to move beyond fear, obligation, and performance into a deeper awareness of God's faithful presence. Along the way, you will discover that holiness is not primarily about keeping distance from God, but learning to live in ever-deepening communion with Him.

Whether Leviticus has long been a mystery to you or a familiar companion, Drawing Near offers a fresh way of reading one of Scripture's most overlooked books-one that transforms ancient symbols into living invitations to trust, rest, worship, and love.

Come, take another step toward the God who has been drawing near to you all along.
