When a witch plays with fire, she might just ignite a love that can't be extinguished... Newly-minted Historian of the soon-to-be-ascended Riverwood Coven Georgie Pendell has always played her part--so why does she feel like an outsider in her own life? Duped and dumped by her boyfriend, Georgie finds herself dismissing love as a fairytale. But when the words she reads aloud from an enchanted storybook free a dragon shifter, everything changes.
Georgie finds herself drawn to the dragon in ways she didn't think were even possible for her, and her dragon, with his fiery golden gaze, all but claims Georgie as his own. But beneath his scorching intensity lies a secret, one that stretches back into the ancient past.
With the Joywood Coven still finding ways to upend the new order of the witching world, Georgie and her coven will need to prove themselves up to the task of being in charge, and right the wrongs their predecessors committed--if they can uncover the truth. Because something is missing. Something that will stop the Joywood once and for all. Something that only a Historian and an ancient dragon can find.

The fourth book and a lovely end to a entertaining series about the Riverwood Coven and their rise to power over the completely awful Joywood Coven who had been in power too long and oppressed anyone who had questions or thought differently. This time is Georgie who gets to find her happy ending, destined love, and finally kick Joywood to the curb! Of course there are still troubles, not the least being how Georgie brought a wooden dragon to life and boy is he one hot dragon!
This was all about family being who you choose, not necessarily who brought you into the world, how books hold the key to fixing the past and changing the future to a better one, plus the importance of giving everyone a voice (instead of changing them into fixtures, or killing them) and of course making the right choices, even if it hurts. This was a lovely story to get lost in and I absolutely loved Georgie and Azreal, even when there were miscommunications due to Azreal not wanting Georgie to get hurt.
It is a cozy tale with sweetness, a bit of awfulness (boy that Joywood Coven is the worst!) and a happy ending for the good guys. So, if you are looking for a fun light fantasy of good people rising up to save the the magical community and find true love on the way, this series is a winner.
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The narrator, Natalie Duke, did a wonderful job in being Georgie with her love of books, history, and a certain dragon shifter as they save the magical community and bring a new future full of light and creatures and witches and happiness.
