This one I recommend

Like all great books for children it is about making friends and finding your place in the world and like all great books for children it's fun to read. Nice story and illustrations that are truly wonderful: filled with a sense of wonder and joy. I liked it a lot.

Sure to please young dragon fans with developed reading skills

Set in Shi Shi Beach on the coast of Washington State, Dragon Fire Ocean Mist is a fantasy novel for young adults about two children, Jaxon and Allie, who befriend the a peaceful family of Shi Shi dragons. But when the shadow of the thieving, ill-tempered dragon Zorg and his brood falls upon the beach, it's up to Allie, Jaxon, and the dragon foundling Niji to fight back with all the cunning and courage they can muster! An engaging adventure, sure to please young dragon fans with developed reading skills.

Dragons Never Disappoint

I have never been to Shi Shi beach Washington, though it is not that far from where I live. Now that I've read this book though I'm more inclined than ever to take a trip along the rugged coast line to see the haystack rocks, the washed up log piles and who knows, maybe I'll catch sight of the Shoram and Shyla or their parents. The Shi Shi (pronounced Shy Shy) dragons are playful, friendly and brave, but not all is sweetness and light in this story, as the human children, who discover the magic log on the beach, soon find out. Jaxon and Allie love their adventures on dragon back, learning how to fire-fish, and even how to breath under water, but they soon see that the other dragon family down the beach are none too friendly and trouble is in the air. This book has a great look. The cover folds out to reveal the featured dragon (Zorg, I think - the mean one) from wing to tail tip. The illustrations, done with Sumi-e inks, are dramatic and endearing. I'm amazed that with just a few strokes of black ink the little hermit crab actually looks like it is skuttling across the bottom of the page! There is life, action and drama in each free-flowing, yet spare depiction. In fact it was hard for me to pick a favorite. I love the sneaky dragon eyes looking greedily at the fish in a tide pool, and the inquisitive raccoon, but if I had to choose it would be little Niji, the tiny rainbow-colored dragon, hatching out of his egg. A tiny dragon, now that is cool. You gotta like the idea of a dragon that can ride around on your shoulder. Jaxon and Allie would certainly agree. The little guy comes in handy too. This is a book of transformations, from the color changing pool to the final showdown. It will give the children who read it a welcome break from the sappy good guys vs unrelenting evil bad guys that populate so many kids stories and TV fare. I think young readers will appreciate this glimpse of the spot where the world of dragons and ours meet in the mists of Shi Shi.
