Film satire's number one star and all-time top director have teamed up to give new life to the immortal legend of Dracula. Leslie Nielsen is Dracula: Dead And Loving It in Mel Brook's comedy of terrors.Unlike other Hollywood comedies about the Count, Dracula: Dead And Loving It takes place in its original time period (1893), with colorful costumes, a rich Gothic score, and appropriately atmospheric sets, including Dracula's ancient and notoriously eerie castle, a seagoing schooner, a London opera house, a foreboding mausoleum, lovely Victorian boudoirs, and a huge, lavishly decorated ballroom containing hundreds of elegantly dressed extras. Director Mel Brooks, of course, weaves the web with his own beloved blend of physical and verbal humor-not to mention state of the art special effects, spectacular stunts, and two exciting dance numbers.

As a gynecologist, Professor Van Helsing has a hand in “everything.”

Excellent rendition of the Dracula story. Follows the original “Nosferatu” (1922) with the added biting humor. The slapstick is well anticipated, but the corny jokes are fairly original and will catch you off guard.
Instead of Arty Johnson for Renfield, they used Peter MacNicol, who looks more like the original Renfield but is more convincing. Lysette Anthony shows what is most British about her as Lucy. There is no mismatch between the actor and to character.
The ending credits show the people's faces with the parts they play.
I leave you with these thoughts:
Vampire - Lucy is lying in her coffin.
Harker: My God, now she’s dead!
Van Helsing: No, she’s not.
Harker: She’s alive?
Van Helsing: She is Nosferatu.
Harker: She’s Italian?
