Fast paced novel

Wonderful first novel set in Africa by a woman who has been there. Contains mystery, romance, adventure and excitment. Captures the essence of a culture foreign to many of us. Development of the main character quickly catches your interest and holds it to the fast paced ending.

Great read!

This book is a fascinating presentation of today's Africa from the viewpoint of an American professor. It keeps one's attention with intrigue, romance, irony and suspense. I highly recommend it.

What an amazing first novel for Mary Bruce.Dr. Sally is a wonderful woman with the oppurtunity of a life time that teaches her a lot more of life than she might have cared to learn. Love-she finds it (she thinks).And I can't tell you more than that read it to find out! A little killing and death, a little love and a little magic make this a must read! a quick read, you won't want to put it down.

Dr. Bruce has put together a thoroughly delightful story of a white woman in deep pain who enters into the life of a teacher in Africa. Dr. Sally's vulnerability is well written. Her actions and reactions are understandable making her into the strong woman she did not know existed. I wonder how much is based on personal knowledge, observation, and strong imagination.
