I am a 51-year-old, who identifies as a Afro-Latino. D.R My Harlem Experience is a semi-autobiographical yet historical project. It blends my personal experiences, thoughts and feelings while you take this B-boy journey with me. The goal of my writings was multilayered. Being a Dominican American Harlemite, I wanted the world to know of our presence since the beginning of our incredible Hip Hop Culture. Through my relationships with others you will learn about unknown Hip Hop contributors. And perhaps even was a reminder of those you forgot about or that have clearly been overlooked. This book turned out to be a blessing for me in more ways than one. I got the opportunity to give you FACTS, but moreover it turned out to be very therapeutic for me because it uncovered personal layers I had never dealt with. So when I began writing in 2013 my intent was a historical text, but lo and behold it allowed me to release feelings that to be frank I had maybe touched through past conversations. For the time you took to read, I am indebted. I am emotionally spent but promise to continue giving you my best if I choose let you in my mind and soul ever again. Please, don't keep your energy to yourself and at the very least, put it on paper.
