Great Little Mermaid Folk Horror

Retellings are my favorite stories. I had my doubts about this book because I'm not up for creatures of the deep horror, but it reeled me in by page 22 when I realized this is a horror filled fairy tale 😻. While there isn't a whole lot of horror in this book, there's just enough for this Folk Horror to rank up there with talents such as Christina Henry in terms of the coming of age aspects with the splash of horror and mythology. Folk Horror has to be my favorite subgenre of Horror because myths, legends, fairy tales, they're everything in my life. There's a sprinkling of minor errors, the most noticeable is on page 153 (Kindle edition) where a sentence has "the it". One of those needs to go. If you like twisted fairy tales, give this Folk Horror a chance, you won't be disappointed. I give this book 4 of 5 Paws.
