Down by the Bay has been a favorite American melody for decades, but it is not Raffi Cavoukian's signature composition; this song, dating back to 1916, features rhyming verses like my old favourite (talking about an ancient way to die): "Did you ever see a bee with a sunburned knee?" I much prefer the verse, "Did you ever see a frog walking his dog?"
