Douglas A/B-26 Invader 846

New Release in Our "Aircraft with History" Series! This time, we explore the fascinating history of the Douglas A/B-26C Invader 846 (S/N 44-35937, MSN 29216), which had a unique operational career in the Chilean Air Force (FACh). This bomber was one of the 2,503 Invaders produced during World War II and initially served with the USAAF, later transitioning to the USAF. In 1949, it was assigned to the 2347th Training Center of the USAF Reserve. In 1958, it was transferred to the Chilean Air Force through the Military Assistance Program (MAP), where it remained in service for 16 years. In 1962, it was converted into the TB-26B trainer variant, and in 1968, it was further modified into a gunship configuration, featuring six .50-caliber machine guns mounted in the nose. In this configuration, it participated in the farewell flight of the FACh Invader fleet and later carried out patrol operations on September 11, 1973, marking the final flight of an Invader in Chile. This 24-page monograph includes color photographs and detailed illustrations of its various paint schemes, meticulously recreated by the author, Julio Arróspide. A must-have tribute for aviation history enthusiasts!
