The greatest art form one can strive to master is the art of communication. When we don't communicate your true intentions or messages clearly, it causes the hearer to depend upon his or her own interpretation. The downside to this, especially in relationships, is that it often times will blur the lines of communication. When the lines of communication are blurred, even a little, it causes people to take things way too personal. It's always easy to be offended when things are taken too personal. The main keys to improving communication and avoiding taking things too personal are listening attentively; speaking clearly; always saying what you mean; thinking before you speak; initiating damage control; watching your voice tones; observing body language; asking the right questions and accepting the given responses; and realizing it may not be about you. I wrote this book as my very own testimony of how I overcame the dangers of taking things too personal. I honestly grew weary and tired of losing people, mostly that I would cut off, because I took something too personally. I allowed offences to ruin several relationships, which may have been salvageable, had I done me due diligence in what I refer to in the book as "Damage Control". My prayer is that this book will help you wade through the many waters of communication. Some waters of communication are much deeper than others. Rest assured, no matter the depth of the water, you can survive the rough and turbulent seas of communication. When you apply the principles, in this book, it is my prayer that you'll be well on your way to mastering the art of communication and avoid the pitfalls of taking things too personally.
