Don't Question My Authority: The Power & Pedagogy of English Only explores the rapid transition of a bilingual school to an "English Only" school following the passage of Proposition 227 by voters in the state of California, which mandated that instruction must be "overwhelmingly in English". This work highlights the ways in which language issues are politicized and how the effective ending of bilingual education in California has been part of a conservative retrenchmen where support for anti- immigrant and English Only groups continues to grow.
