Don't Call Me Hero

Carter has spent his life avoiding superheroes while doing what they should be doing - bringing down shadow labs and their corrupt protectors. He's been very good at it for a long time. Unfortunately, the experiment he rescued at the last lab turned into a Cthulhu-style monster and tried to eat him. It's not her fault, but that doesn't change the fact that Carter needs help if he's going to take care of her while protecting everyone else from her.
Out of money and out of options, Carter is forced to ask for help from Fortress, the world's greatest hero for the last century. Fortress agrees on one condition - Carter has to enroll in hero school.
Carter hates superheroes, so this is the last place he wants to be. The students are too naive and have no idea about what real evil looks like. Most of the adults don't trust him. Everyone is scared of the hybrid. Yet, somehow, Fortress is convinced that Carter is hero material.
All Carter wants is to get the alien hybrid under control before she accidentally kills someone and then get out of this place. However, things begin to change when his power is key in finding a lost child. He has new choices to make, but his power comes at a heavy cost and could destroy him. Will he risk his mind and become the hero Fortress believes he can be, or will he grab the hybrid and take his chances back out in the streets?
